What are some of the next steps that I will take to increase my knowledge about technology and find out how to apply technologies in my major and/or future career?
Some steps that I will definitely take to increase my knowledge about technology in my career field will be through the use of Blogger, Google Reader, and Wiki spaces. Before this class I was not familiar with these online tools but now that I have had the chance to play with them and see what they can do I am very excited to start using them to better myself as an educator.
I think a Wiki space would be a great way to implement a new type of technology to my classroom and make my class more connected in and out of the classroom. I would like the Wiki to be a designated resource for students to get help from me and their peers and for parents to be up to date and involved in their students education.
Blogger is a site that I have continued using after our introductory lesson. As of know I use it for personal use, like a diary. I am getting familiar with the site and making myself well versed in posting, editing, and following other people. My hope is that when the time comes I will be able to use Blogger as a personal outlet for my teaching experience. I would like to get feedback from other educators. My goal is to make my blog a place where I can creatively get ideas from other people as well as other inputs on situations that are new to me but may be a past experience for someone else.
Google Reader is something that I am growing to like. There are so many publication on so many subjects and the Google Reader has made it very easy to narrow down everything that is available to my preferences. It is a good way to keep me updated in all that is new in education as far as techniques, laws, innovative people, etc. I think the Google Reader will influence me in my career field immensely because it gives me the chance to have all of the greatest and latest news in education which will always impact my teaching for the better.
